Born in Italy in 1963, Luca Galileo Ciuffoletti Desiderio studied violin under Giovanni Leone and Riccardo Brengola, studying at the Conservatorio “San Pietro a Majella,” the Accademia Chigiana, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. A prize-winning violinist, he has performed for over three decades as first violinist and assistant concertmaster with major orchestras worldwide, collaborating with leading conductors and soloists. His chamber-music work includes performances with the Hong Kong String Quartet and the Nuovo Quintetto Chigiano. He has also built an extensive teaching career, serving as Brengola’s assistant at Santa Cecilia, teaching at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and mentoring advanced students internationally. He later expanded into artistic leadership, becoming Assistant Artistic Director of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Artistic Director of the Tokyo Concert Association, and, since 2018, Artistic Director of the Associazione Italo-Giapponese in Kyoto and President of the Galileo Art Society (GALIAS). Today he is active as violinist, composer, writer, painter, and philosopher.
